Join me on my first Geocaching 100 Finds
Thank goodness that the kids got a little older(ages 11 & 8). They promised no more throwing themselves down of the ground in a tantrum if they were not the first one to find it. Then they started asking can we go find a geocache? My response “after homework”. With the “laws” laid down we started geocaching again in the spring of 2016 on my way to geocaching 100 Finds.
On the way to 50
By the end of the May we reached our first milestone of 50 finds. I don’t recall it being anything fancy or memorable, but at the time as a “newbie cacher” (see geocaching for beginners for help). I really had no idea how much fun this was really going to get and how a possible Geocaching Obsession was beginning. Now, I try to make my milestones a memorable find.
In July we went on vacation to Bowling Green KY to visit the Corvette Museum and Factory. Since I was in a new area I was determined to pick up a few caches while there. The obsession really set in when I discovered what a WhereIgo cache was with the find of GC4T08M Museum Tour in Bowling Green KY . Also found my first Earth cache find of GC2P999 White Stone of Bowling Green. Now this is really getting fun! Learning new facts by paying attention to details you may have overlooked. A perfect example would be like the tile pattern in the floor in the L&N Depot. Thrilled when I found my first Little Library “book” hidden cache. Then hmmm, the parent in me starts thinking this is really great for the kids to learn some historical facts as well. So, with the find of GCA7FC Old Bank Robbery our first virtual, the coffin was sealed and I was obsessed.
Other places in Kentucky that were really neat to find.
Well it got even better when finding a geocache took it to some of the neatest places that we would not have gone if not led there for a “find”:
GLNNAT9B Wigwam Village
GC52ZT4 Caching in Kereiakes #1 : Entrance to the park
GC2ENJV Cows N Cones
GCB6FD Lets go watch some planes. (my husband had been here several times as a teenager but never read the sign).
I was determined to get to 100 finds and was driving my husband crazy. I did so with one of our local prominent cache hiders the Men of Honor series in our area in Aug 2016. But then life gets in the way again, kids back to school, homework, and cooler temperatures ended our cache quest for 2016.
