Tip Tuesday time again!
This model car tip is about ‘the little thing” the little details that make a model stand out for the ordinary! No super scratch building here or anything just small little details any average modelers can add to their next project! Follow along with the accompanying photos as I explain some of the little thing I do to models to make them stand out!
Model Car Tip on Wheels
Wheels are one of those places that you can add the little details. Most cars have different hubs for the front and back wheels. Just make sure to use the correct wheel for the correct place on the car!
Here you see a front wheel (left) and back wheel (right) with different hubs molded to them!
Model Car tip for NASCAR Wheels
NASCAR race cars are another example of this with wheels. On most NASCAR kits you with have to modify 2 of the wheels.
Here is the front wheels on a 1982 DW Monte Dew Buick straight from the box with just paint detailing!
This is the same DW car with the back wheel hub being modified by drilling it out paint detailing!
Model Car Tip for water pump reservoir
The water pump reservoir from the new Revell Chip Foose 48 Cadillac. As you can see the reservoir is molded with the back open, when the engine is built this will show!
But don’t fret were gonna fix it!
Model Car Tip for front core support radiator
The front core support radiator, as you can see by the 2 colors of plastic I had to add. The radiator to the front of the piece(it is visible behind the open grill of finished model) now when this is finished it gives that extra”finished look” to the model!
Not a lot of people will notice little things like this but to me it worth the little extra work to make my model look as much like real cars as I can!
